Tourtour
Tourtour is often classified as one of the most beautiful villages in France. Also known as the "village dans le ciel" or "the village in the sky", Tourtour is 635 metres above sea level and overlooks a large part of Provence, from Fréjus and the Mediterranean in the east to the St Victoire in the west.
The village itself dates from the 12th Century and the architecture of the village, with its winding streets and medieval walls, is a delight to wander around. The village is dominated by the church of St Denis and the panoramic views from the top are a sight to behold.
Far from the noise and turmoil of the main roads, Tourtour is surrounded by grasslands and meadows, with a spring that feeds the eight village fountains as well as turning the wheel of the olive oil press which is still in working order.
As well as filming in and around the streets of Tourtour, kindly supported by the Marie, we also filmed on the back terrace of "La Farigoulette" which is a beautiful restaurant, serving great food.
